Research
The SJMC faculty engage in a variety of research and professional projects that seek to elevate and transform our practice and provide real-world knowledge into the SJMC classrooms and community organizations. Drawn from several different research interests, they generate the knowledge and innovations that advance the field of journalism and mass communication. Such research is published in books, papers, television programs, newspaper and magazine articles and public relations campaigns that are disseminated to members of the public as well as academia. In 2009-2010, the school began to place additional emphasis on research and is in the process of transitioning from a professionally-focused school to one that is equally focused on research in concert with FIU’s mission and status. During this time, more than 35 research titles were published in a myriad of publications ranging from invited papers and practitioner-targeted articles to books with major university presses and refereed journal articles and presentations which provide thought-leadership for the discipline.
