Global Strategic Communications

This program gives students a global perspective in strategic communications to help them prepare for advancement in advertising, public relations, and integrated communications careers. Both the management and creative tracks, provide knowledge and understanding for addressing global, national, and local audiences and communication issues.  Its curriculum reflects the evolving global climate, with international and global elements in branding, copywriting, social media, management, crisis, among others. Each track culminates with a professional project.

Creative Track: The FIU School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) offers a graduate program directed at qualified candidates who wish to pursue a Master of Science in Mass Communication with a specialty in creativity.  Part of the program is offered at the Miami Ad School (MAS), a prominent creative advertising school on Miami Beach. The specific track of this program is the Global Strategic Communications (GSC) – Creative Track.  This is a 36-semester credit, lock-step program that is completed in five consecutive semesters including summers (18 months). The program includes seven courses delivered at the FIU Biscayne Bay campus and five courses delivered at MAS South Beach. Students in this unique and exciting program are typically creative individuals who understand the need to obtain a more complete background in the strategic and research elements of advertising and public relations.  Since students will have to take courses in two locations, it is strongly recommended that they have access to a car for ease of transportation.  The two schools are approximately 14 miles away from each other at the following addresses:

FIU – 3000 NE 151 Street, North Miami, Florida

MAS – 955 Alton Road, Miami Beach, Florida
