New Bachelors of Science in Mass Communication with specialization in Digital Media Studies focuses on developing students' fluency and expertise in all aspects of digital media.
Industry professional Scott Andron, editor for The Miami Herald’s Neighbors section, gave SJMC students a lecture about some of the core skills for a journalist: research and background search.

Monica Lozano, CEO of impreMedia and HispanicAd's "Media Executive of the Year," opened the 2011-2012 Hearst Distinguished Lecture Series on September 14. Lozano led a keynote lecture and panel discussion on the current Hispanic media landscape. The five-member panel was made up of national authorities on the subject from multiple organizations and disciplines.
The prestigious and highly competitive New York Times Hispanic Student Journalism Institute pairs promising Hispanic j-students nationwide with Times and Globe editors in an immersion program where students report, edit, photograph and produce video packages in a makeshift newsroom.
